Climbing in London

Due to the scarcity of crags in and around London, club members can most often be found at one of the capital's climbing walls. The club runs evenings throughout the week at a number of walls throughout the city. For more information or to come along to one of our sessions, please see the information below for the relevant wall.

More details can be found on our climbing calendar or please contact the membership secretary.

Westway

Tuesday Nights

The Westway is located under the road of the same name near to Latimer Road tube station (Hammersmith & City Line). Featuring mostly roped climbing (top ropes and lead climbing), there is also a popular bouldering wall at the back of the venue.

Members normally meet just inside the climbing area (not far from the water fountain) at around 7pm. Afterwards we will usually head to one of the local pubs near to Latimer Road, either The Garden or The Pig and Whistle.

Daytime

A group of climbers, mainly retired, climb at the Westway on Mondays and Thursdays, starting at about 11.00am. Most of the group are in the LMC. Anybody interested in joining these groups should contact Tony Williams.

Mile End

Wednesday or Thursday Nights

Mile End is located next to the tube station of the same name. This is primarily a bouldering venue with a small amount of roped climbing but with a friendly east-end vibe.

Although not quite as regular as the Westway, members meet here on either a Wednesday or a Thursday evening at around 6.30pm. For details of which evenings we will be here, please check our climbing calendar.

White Spider

Thursday Nights

Named after a spider-shaped ice field on the Eiger North Face, this large wall in Tolworth near Kingston-upon-Thames features bouldering and roped climbing.

Members meet regularly here on a Thursday night. We have negotiated a special discount for members of £8.00 provided that you show your membership card on the door.

Walking

There is a walking group, which does walks in London and the Home Counties during the working week. Recent walks have included the North Downs Way, the Vanguard Way and the Greensand Way. Anybody interested in joining should contact Patrick Radford.
